Brands with a point of view

Logos, identity systems, naming and guidelines for New York and New York businesses who'd rather stand out than blend in. We build brands that work as hard on a shopfront as they do on Instagram.

Why does bold branding beat safe branding?

Most local businesses end up with a logo that looks fine. Fine doesn't get remembered. Fine doesn't get shared. Fine doesn't earn a price premium. We build brands with a clear visual point of view — distinctive shapes, real color conviction, type that has a personality — because that's what creates recall in a town the size of New York.

Bold doesn't mean loud. Some of our most distinctive identities are quiet, considered and minimal. It means committing to a direction and executing it properly across every touchpoint.

What does the RIOT branding process look like?

  • Discovery — a 90-minute workshop covering audience, competitors, ambitions and constraints
  • Strategy — a one-page brand platform: positioning, personality, tone, visual direction
  • Concepts — two well-developed visual directions, presented in real-world contexts (signage, social, packaging)
  • Refinement — two rounds on the chosen direction
  • System — color, type, photography style, iconography, layout principles
  • Rollout — guidelines PDF, templates, file pack, and optional rollout across web, print and signage

What's included in the final brand file pack?

  • Primary logo lockup (vector + PNG)
  • Secondary lockup and submark
  • Color, mono, reverse and one-color variants
  • Favicon and app icon set
  • Social profile pictures and cover crops
  • Email signature template
  • Letterhead and business card artwork
  • Brand guidelines PDF (10–20 pages depending on scope)

Do you handle naming, sub-brands and rebrands?

Launching something new? We help name it — workshopped with you, sense-checked for trademark conflicts and domain availability, and pressure-tested across the markets you care about. Already have a name but the brand has drifted? We run rebrand projects with a clear migration plan so you don't lose the equity you've built.

/ FAQ

Common questions

How long does a brand identity project take?
A focused logo project takes around 2 weeks. A full visual identity system — logo, palette, type, guidelines, social and print collateral — takes 4–6 weeks depending on scope and feedback rounds.
How many logo concepts will I see?
We don't pitch ten directions hoping one sticks. After a discovery workshop we present two well-developed concepts, refine the one you choose across two rounds, and deliver final files. Less choice, better outcomes.
What file formats do I get?
Vector (SVG, EPS, PDF) and raster (PNG, JPG) versions of every logo lockup, in color, mono and reverse. Plus a clear-space sheet, favicon set, and social profile crops.
Can you rebrand an existing business without losing customers?
Yes — that's most of what we do. We audit your current equity, decide what to keep, evolve the rest, and roll out the change with a comms plan so loyal customers feel taken along, not blindsided.
